THE LUKE PROJECT

Meeting the needs of our community.
The Luke Project is about responding to the needs in our community - offering hope, understanding, support, and practical help.
People and families in our community are under increasing pressure as they struggle with the impact of poverty and unemployment, family violence, mental health issues, drug/alcohol dependency, and unresolved trauma, made worse by the cost of living crisis.
We are working to meet these needs and make a difference in a variety of ways,
COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS:
We will offer a range of impactful workshops where the community can find answers, tools, and support to help them transform their lives. These will be led by our team, with input from experts in the field and personal stories shared by our community leaders. Aftercare will also be provided for those who need it.
Workshops being planned for 2025:
-
FLOURISHING PEOPLE: For people who are struggling because of past trauma, helping them begin to heal and flourish in every area of their lives.
-
FLOURISHING RELATIONSHIPS: For people who are struggling in their relationships because of past trauma, helping improve communication and reduce conflict and family violence.
-
THE PATH: Helping people struggling to find employment understand their strengths and find purpose and direction, equipping them with tools and individualised coaching, to help them succeed.
(Watch this space for details of upcoming workshops)
SUPPORT GROUPS:
Offering a place of support, connection and belonging for people who are lonely, isolated, facing a difficult challenge (e.g. mental health, domestic violence) and/or needing to make a change in their lives (e.g. leaving prison, addictions). Led by our volunteers.
‘THE LUKE PROJECT’ ONLINE:
Empowering South Aucklanders to share powerful ‘good news’ content online, sharing 'stories of hope' and shining a light on local heroes who are making a difference.
(Our first videos coming soon!)
COMMUNITY ACTION:
Mobilising volunteers to meet practical community needs – activities include volunteer-led initiatives, supporting community partners, community outreach projects, assisting with disaster/emergency responses, and other community needs.

“…to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”
(Luke 4:18)
